Quick question on hoses

Okay, next on my long list of stuff I need to fix/replace on the GSL-SE is the various hoses in the car. My question is... do I need to get the specific hoses from Mazda or Mazdatrix, or can I just yank everything off and take it to a local auto parts store and use generic cut-to-fit hoses on it?

Generic dude. Just make sure they are the proper gauge of hose (ie, 5/8, 16mm etc), and buy a lot of new clamps as well.

20+ year old hoses arnt good!

Most hoses shouldn't cost a lot either. I don't think we have many "special bending" hoses or anything. Most are standard.

Cool, thanks. I was pretty much just planning on pulling all the hoses off, labeling them, then taking them into the parts store and saying "I need more of these."

I saw that you can get the hoses from Mazdatrix, but for $20 or so for a hose that costs about a dollar a foot at a parts store.

Yeah, get most just from a parts store (I'm from Aus so I don't know what auto stores you have) , if anything, get them longer than before so you can cut and make mistakes and the hose wont be a waste of money. Then just spend some time bending them the way you want and clamping them down properly.

While you are doing that, you might as well take a look at your pulleys as well for the fan, alternator, a/c (if you have it) etc....

do them all and then you wont have to worry about it again for a while. That and you will know they are all new.

Main thing is make sure you have the right gauge hose replacements, so you can get a nice snug fit.

You can get most of the hoses on Mazdatrix, but they sell most of them for 20 bucks apiece.

I haven't pulled all of them yet, but I pulled the four worst hoses and they had something that would work for most of them, and they ordered me a radiator hose cheap.
