A quick How-To on sleepy eyes for a mere $2
First Buy a push button that sits in the off position [Off(on)]. A 10k Potentiometer will do aswell.
DISCONNECT BATTERY first when doing electrical work!
On 84-85 cars:
1. Take out the screw from the bottom of the Haz/Light washer switch and pull away from console.
2. Find the solid RED wire and either cut it or de-solder it from the switch.
3. Location is up to you, but I mounted my switch on the bottom left side of the steering colum. TO do this remove the plasitc cover, drill a hole in it, and run 2 wires up to the switch. Put the Push button in the hole, solder the wires to the 2 contacts and replace cover.
(If you're using a a 3 terminal Pot, you'll have to jump the neg (usually the middle) to the terminal you arent using)
4. Solder the RED wire to one of the wires ran to the button, and the other to the switch where you removed the RED wire from.
5. Replace Switch
Done!
SA, follows same proceedure more or less. Switch might be in a different spot. (Wire is still RED)
On all 1st gens the circuit to raise the lights have White/Green to the battery, and RED to the motor.
Push the washer switch to the UP position (nothing happens)... push your off(on) button and they go up a bit (untill you let go). Just press it a few times quickly untill you reach the desired height. Lights will fully open when headlights are turned on, and they will retract when the button is in the down position...
There ya go! Sleepy Eyes for the cost of a switch ($2)
