Quick bunch of questions before i go to work!
are there any special techniques out there when flushing radiators and cooling system?
how could i flush my oil cooler out?

If you think the water rad is not gunked up, then:
1) buy one of those Prestone Flush kits ($3), "T" into the bottom _heater_ hose located on the passenger side along the frame beam (not bottom MAIN!) with the supplied "T", drain the rad (if it has a drain, my 80 SA doesn't, so I drain it from the Prestone "T"), remove the coolant drain plug from the engine block (middle housing, bottom, on Driver side of engine). Open interior heater to "HOT" setting. Drain. Attach hose to Prestone "T", flush till clear.
Seal it all up.
Now is an EXCELLENT time to swap out decades-old rad and heater hoses!!!!!!
Add coolant mixed 50-50 with DISTILLED water; with rad cap OFF, start motor, let run and WATCH LEVEL IN RAD. System may "burp" out some air, so you need to top it a few times. once you think you have it, button her up, take a short drive WITH SPARE COOLANT, stopping to check level every mile or 2. Take a heavy rag to remove HOT cap - its under pressure!!! careful!
[Please do the Right Thing and take the old coolant to be disposed of properly]
2) If you do NOT know the condition of the water rad (ie don't know if ever chemically cleaned), you should pull the rad, take it to a rad shop and get them to chem-dunk and rod it out. They will pressure test and leak test it, now you know the rad is up to snuff. Time and $$ well spent because poor cooling sytems are the #1 rotor-motor killer!
Oil Cooler:
Assuming you have the under-rad version, the only proper way to clean it is via sonic cleaning. Draining it won't clean it, obviously. Check with airport plane service shops about who to send the cooler to. There are only a few places in the states that do it for the aircraft industry. About $60. Can't dunk or use harsh chemicals with these oil coolers as they are aluminum and would be damaged.

thanks 7aull, think ill skip on the oil cooler cleaning, mite take the radiator to get professionally cleaned, not sure yet. temperatures ran fine so i think i mite do it yourself rad flush. thanks for the detailed response! btw my 81 rx7 has 4 wheel disk, what does that make it? (i know i should know)
