Quick 2GCDFIS w/ TT question

Does this set-up as per in the archives use the 2nd gen ignitor normally in the 2nd gen coil pack?

I have a 2nd gen coil with the ignitor stripped.. do I need the full stock unit for the 2GCDFIS w/ TT to work?

the transistor trick was a little device created by some of the guys here that basically helps the little 1st gen ignitor trigger the 2nd gen ignitor in the coil. so yes you would need the ignitor in the 2nd gen coil for this mod. however, i don't know if they're still making it or not. What you CAN do given what you already have is just do a regular 2gcdfis. all you have to do is follow the instructions in this page:

and in case you have some questions: (last picture is the correct one)

Yes, as stated you will need the 2nd gen ignitor as well. Using the TT gives so much more hp over the standard 2gdifs that it will knock your socks off! The only downside is that they tend to burn up ignitors or resistors at an unpredictable rate. There is, however, a workaround for this which involves adding a couple of resistors to the system to reduce the voltage a tad. Bad83 has done this succesfully...

Is there an existing write-up for this fix?

i didn't know about the fix. do a "transistor trick" search, and be prepared to do lots of reading on it.

Hopefully Bad83 won't mind that I post this information. He is the one that came up with this solution, and last time we spoke it was working well for him. I have picked up the resistors, but haven't had the time to re-install the system. I need to do that soon and get my power back.

You will need to go to Radio Shack and get 4 to 6 of these 10ohm 10wt resistors. http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search You will need to get the resistance around 2 to 2.5 ohm. These will be wired in parallel. It may get the restance down with 4, or it may take 6 depending on the inconsistancies in the resistors. I have been using these on my Turbo FB for almost 2 years, and I have yet to fry an ignitor. These need to be in the power lead to the second gen coil.
