Question Questions!(warning: n00b post)

Ok, i got this frikkin rattling under my car, i was told its my drive shaft rattling around and i need new "Y joints" to hold it in place. This rattling occurs under the whole car and speeds up as i accelerate to a full slowing stop along with my car when i press the brakes. Im guessing this is the problem. any ideas on how expensive these "Y joints" could be? maybe someone has had a similar prob.
A few questions to compare/contrast with other members cars....

Upon start up for the first time of the day, should my car turn over about 4 or 5 times b4 startup?

I got this sound @ 2k rpms on 2nd gear when i am driving it sounds like a metal saw or somthing opening up...i dont know what the heck it is...i hope i didnt break somthing or i just havent noticed it b4. any help?

Anyone know what distributor ignitors are? i had to replace them a long time ago and it was expensive.,..somthing electrical i belive.

Any questions answered would be appreciated alot, i am a n00b to these forums so gimme a break eh?

I'm not positive on this one but i think the sound after 2k RPM is your carb. Mine starts about 2500 and builds and then after i let off of the gas at about 5K RPM it sounds like a goose is dying. Supposedly i hear is the shutter valve but im not sure on that one.
