Questions for the turbo guys.

Looks like I'm going to boost my carbed SE motor after all. I'll be using the Dellorto thats on the car now and an S4 turbo and manifold. Looking make 10psi. Just a couple of questions so I can get my plans laid out.
1. Can I use the nipple on the rear housing and the nipple behind the water pump housing for the water lines going in and out of the turbo?
2. Are there any other oil source for the turbo other than using the RB oil adapter and tapping the front cover for the return? I could of sworn I saw someone post a pic with the oil lines going to the oil cooler line. If your reading this please contact me!
3.What timing should I run? I'd like to get my distributor locked for accuracy and most of all safety. Who here can do it? Please contact me!
4. How much boost would the stock wastegate put out? Does it have to be ported?
5. Do I need an intercooler for this set up? I plan to run without one first until I get a front mount.
I welcome any other suggestions, tips and tricks you guys might have. Please feel free to throw your .2 cents in!

Thanks, Ed

You can tap the banjo fitting on the rear oil cooler hose. But I think it's easier and better (closer to turbo) to use the RB block.

BLITZ has a round oil adapter.
why do u want to use the oil lines? turbo return needs to be drained to oil pan ASAP.usually its directly to the oil pan.

If you have a 84~85 engine you can take the oil presure sensor out and go to a hardware store and get a 1/8 npt T fitting and tap a oil feed line off that.

I can lock you distibuter for you, pm me

first of all , you wanna check my website that is www.cardomain.com/id/eddierotary it will tell you what i did when i had my turboed gslse carbed engine. and i will recomend to use a intercooler, and for the water lines, one thing that helped me alot was a turbo II water pump housing, the dizzy you can locked it, but i recomend to leave it open but at 0 degree leading so it doesnt advance alot. and for last the S4 turbo tend to boost creep. but with a good ported WG and a 2.5 inch exhaust it will somewhat stay at 12 psi.

i would suggest a s5 turbo setup also,

its harder to find, and a bit more expensive, but it will make more power and run better,

s4s have a complicated flapper door system that I have heard is a big pain in the *** to deal with

the s4 turbos will make great power too you just need to port the wastegate and remove the flapper and weld up the hole... it will work just as good

the divided exhaust housing and manifold must be an advantange vs the s4 setup.

not to say that the s4 is bad, it just seams like the s5 is a better option.

I would suggest a holley red fuel pump. Should be plenty for your setup.

Just finished checking out Eddierotary's sight and noticed that he mentioned something about the turbo II manifold needing an adapter to work with the SE intake? Please clarify. I thought it was a bolt on affair?

Thanks, Ed

The turbo will hit the SE lower manifold (bigger from the actuators).

Also, you will need and EFI fuel pump. The Holley's are only good for NA carbs.

I'm not running the 6 port actuators. My intake is gutted of all mechanism. Will I still have clearance problems? EFI fuel pump for NA or Turbo? I hear of people using the stock SE pumps so I'm assuning NA will suffice?

Thanks, Ed

Thanks, Ed

I guess I need an s4 lower manifold for the swap. How hard is it to port the wastegate?

Thanks, Ed

Eddierotary, what did you do to the injector holes on the intake?

Thanks, Ed

The oil return line from the turbo should be the closest to the pan as possible. I believe it's gravity fed and the quicker you get the oil out of the turbo when shutting the car down the better.

Thanks, Ed
