Questions for DirectFreak or anyone who can help
Been wanting to go turbo for a while, and aside from putting together a carbbed setup and going through hell tuning it all.My question is about the Cosmo-TT.If you were to buy the complete setup, such as engine.tranny, ecu, harness etc, what all else would it take to make it work in my 84gsl?Thanks

Yeah, shutup kid.
Search. Lots of different turbo setups have been covered already. Nobody is going to give you a list of everything you need. Search, get a good idea of exactly what you want, and figure it out yourself. Then if you have specific questions of some things you can't figure out, ask.

Yeah, shutup kid.
I'll post up the list I have for a very basic blowthough carb setup, a lot of the things are the same or just a bit different.
-TurboII Exhaust manifold - Put 12a Manifold gasket onto it, mark it, and grind the 13bT manifold until it matches the 12a gasket.
-TurboII Turbo
-TurboII Wastegate
-Nikki(stock) Carb w/mods done to handle boost(or get a weber or holley)
-12aTurbo(j-spec) intake manifold(stock will hit turbo), or get a spacer for the exhaust manifold
-Turbo Hat for Carb(I sell these for the nikki and weber)
-GSL-SE Fuel pump, or basically any aftermarket EFI pump
-Fuel pressure regulator with boost refrence port
-Drill hole/put in fitting in engine front cover for turbo oil return line
-T fitting where the oil pressure gauge gets it's reading from for turbo oil feed line
-Remove vacume advance and weld centrifugal advance on distributor.
-Downpipe + whatever you want to do with the rest of the exhaust.
-Lock the distributor, or leave it alone and retard the timing quite a bit.

damn,$15,000?Iwas hoping it would be a little easier than that.Your setup looks strong.I wanted to go with something fuel injected and just thought it would be more driveable than a carbed 12a turbo.
Coldy, what kind of numbers could you get out of the TII Turbo, and say a Weber on a stock 12a?Thanks for the help guys. That damn video of DirectFreak just made me wanna throw my Streetport ine the trash!!

FB+FC=F-ME
Your better off going with a TII setup, specifically 87-88.Its been done many times, pretty well documented, and parts are more availible.Mounting requires very little work, and they are all sticks,so theres no ECU or flywheel issues.
Its not all that hard to squeeze 300 flywheel hp from a TII,even while still running the stock ECU(although thats pretty much the ragged edge for the Mazda computor).300hp in a 2500lb car is fast, just in case youve never been in a turbo FB.Any more than that, and your chassis, brakes and rearend are going to start protesting.Leave the 500-800hp dreams to the Supra and Skyline guys.
I did my first TII swap (87') for less than 2000 bucks.I did all the work myself and utilized a couple TIIs in the local wrecking yards to save money. The only thing I paid out for was the exhaust and custom fuel tank. That price included all new gaskets, seals,TII tranny swap and tuneup.Eventually, I did fork out $5000 for a new,"E" Mazdatrix S5 streetport block and a Turbonetics TO4B hybrid. But the stock 87' setup with stock 90' turbo was plenty quick for about 6 months.Pulled 13.5s all day long untill a water seal went on the 80K junkyard engine.
