Well, I removed the 3rd member so I can clean up the gasket and put it back on. As I was doing that I found these...





Not so worried bout this one...Dosen't look like it near where the fluid would leak...



But this one on the other hand... Its hard to see, but the crack goes inside for about 1 inch. Couldnt really see it because the gear is in the way but I took a thin screwdriver to "feel" the crack...enough to make the fluild leak.

And yes its on the bottom par tof the housing...

Well you should be able to score a used case cheap and swap your stuff into it. Im sure wacko has an open diff laying around.

I would think so, but not 100% sure. Maybe Felix Miata would know, check his site. Or cross check the PN's in the fiche. Mazdatrix lists the diff parts (bearings etc) as 71-85 all the same so going on that maybe the cases are all the same.
