questions about mariah GTU widebody kit installation

Hello!
I'm curious if anyone knows if the Mariah GTU kit's front airdam is intended to go over/attach to the OE front bumper (1979 in my case)? Or is the bumper intended to be removed beforehand? I have no instructions with the NIB kit I've recently picked up.

thanks!
B

The Mariah bumpers are designed to fit over and mount onto the steel support bar on the FB's which is attached to the face of the factory 5mph shock bumpers. On an SA, once you remove the bumper, the 2 shocks will still be there and will need to have upper and lower ears cut off to create a flat face for mounting the support bar supplied by Mariah. The support bar is nothing special, just a flat bar designed to allow for hanging of the fiberglass. From there, it should be pretty straight-forward.

I'm running a Mariah Mode4 front bumper and airdam and really like the design - it is very integrated with the factory lines. Post back with some pics if you want a walk-through; my bumper is held on by about 6 screws at the front of the fender wells, making for an easy removal in the event of damage. The GTU bumper likely is designed to mount similarly,

Sounds pretty straight forward. I don't recall seeing a support bar in the parts I bought, but shouldn't be a problem, as you indicated. I'm still months away from hanging this stuff-- I am having molds made first. I'll post some pics when the time comes.
Thanks!

Don't mean to bump up an old thread but I can't work out a way to private message you. Did you end up making a mold (and replicas)? I am in Ontario and interested.

@te71se If they did or not, I'm not sure. The Mariah kits have been continued on by another company that bought the original molds; named Rotary Engineering, www.rotaryengineeringsb.com.

Hello!
The bottom fell out of this project due to lack of supporting interest and a recurring inability to get any local CF workers to commit.
With the parts again available for purchase by the new owners of the Mariah moulds, I’m not sure if I will pursue the idea any further.
I do still fancy the idea, and if I eventually proceed, I certainly will make some noise about it on here.
there’s a guy from Ontario who sells fibreglass widebody parts on eBay. I’m pretty sure he has some stuff that fits our cars.

do you have an eBay link by chance? I had a look and couldn't find anything.

What Mariah kit do you have exactly? the GTU kit with the door wings? Do you have pics?

Here’s his website:
Showcars Fiberglass&Steel Bodyparts Unlimited

I don’t have the door caps in my kit. It’s the shorter fenders that do not extend over the doors. I have the rear “lip spoiler“ rather than the whale tail.
