Questions about diff year engines

I have an 84 engine that replaced an 82 and the parts leading up to the oil filter are different. Will it be ok to use the older part as the one on the engine isnt all there? Also, how different are the rad hoses? Mazdatrix sells them as if they are diff so I was just wondering which one I should get.

you probalby have a front mount oil cooler and the 83-85 had beehive oil coolers. you need to put the oil filter pedistal off your 82 and put it on the 84. the beehive uses coolant to cool the oil so you will have a "T" on your heater hose inlet, below the oil filter, that you can cut down to a single with a hacksaw.
use the 82 rad hoses, they are for the short rad in your 82.

The front mount is more efficient, make sure you get good hoses as it is a pressurised system
