Question for those with the Respeed brake kit

No, it is not stock!

Any machinist who narrows rear ends for drag racing should be able to redrill the rear axles. The guy who did mine charged me $150 including the studs. I bought a pair of SE axles, so he only had to drill 4 of the 5 holes. I have described my rear brake conversion on here before more than once. The caliper adapter is very simple. The hard part is the bracket for the handbrake cable. No machine work required for the rear conversion.
I used the 15 x 6 1/2 BBS alloys from a 1990 convertible. You may find wheels you like better, but it is unlikely you will find lighter weight wheels. I did this because the wheels were given to me, and the brakes were cheap - I paid $100 for a set of four, including the front hubs.
Assuming you don't lower the car, there is definitely no need to roll the fenders with these wheels and tire sizes. No spacer required in the rear with 225-50 tires. 1.25 inch spacer in the front with 205-50s, plenty of fender clearance. My front spacers were custom made by my machinist.

^ Very nice setup!
I will be using 15x7 Panasports with the 4x114.3 bolt pattern. I will be doing the TII brakes up front, with GSL-SE brakes in the rear. I plan to run 205's up front with 225's in the rear. I will try it without the spacers considering the offset will be different on the Pana's then the BBS's you are using. Anyone using Pana's with the kit please chime in......
Thanks

[QUOTE=bwaits]Currently there is a way. I hope shortly to be able to offer a second and better choice. Currently you can have the 5 lug rotor re-drilled with the 4 lug pattern. One of the holes is shared so you are only drilling 3 extra holes. If done correctly none of the new holes interfere with any of the old holes.
yes, i did it this way with the 4 lug 2nd gen hubs and re drilled the TT2 brake rotors to 4 lug. And i put 18X7 wheels with 215/35/18 tires with no rubbing issues at all.

love the braaaap
I'm going to be redrilling my 4x110 rear axles for free, plus studs of course. My dad works for a tool and die shop and has access to all the needed equipment. I've already got front calipers and hubs from a j-spec TII, so thats already worked out. All I need now is the respeed kit, disks and pads for the front, redrill the rear axles and disks to work with 5x4.5.

I am paying a machine shop 100.00 to redrilled both fronts. Is that a fair price? Just wondering

Machine shops in this area run at about $60 per hour. With setup and run time that does not seem to bad.

billy is going to be offering new custom moroso axles with a brake kit. i hope you werent wanting to keep these details away from the public till a later date billy.
id love to buy this, but i think it may be too expensive for me at this time. what im looking at doing is trying to find a machine shop redrill my axles and rotors. i just bought all brand new brakes for the SE rearend and they have 0 miles on them.
although, the more i think about it, the more i just want to wait and buy billy's set up. that way i can put the SE axles and brakes on my newly aquired GSL
82transam--for your initial question. i have 16x7 Work Equips. i got them from an importer in california. they have some curb rash and need center caps. they can be fixed by a wheels shop and will be as soon as i get to where thats my biggest concern. i got them for $400 shipped, a good deal in my eyes. im not 100% sure what the backspacing is, but they fit very well to the fenders. i can get you better pics in a couple days, but until then heres the pics from the first day she was able to roll.

Wonder how much hp those axles are gonna be rated at... Should be a nice kit when its realeased, definatly on my to do list, would be a nice way to top off my 13bt swap. Little concerned about cost though, I bet those axles are gonna be a pretty penny... I'm also interested in seeing how Billy's kit will take care of the rear e-brake setup. After reading stillettomans posts on the subject it seems theres a fair bit of modification nessesary to the caliper itself to make the FB cables work, no big deal just curious I guess.
Thanks for all the info and pics you guys

If the weak point of the GSL-SE rear end is the differential then what's the point of producing upgraded axles when they aren't the weak point in the first place and would probably never snap with a -SE differential?

well the new axles are moroso, but im not sure how strong theyll be. the driftatlanta team uses the SE rearend and they have decent numbers and they drift. they give their rearends hell. if im not mistaken they use a miata diff, kaaz(?), and moroso axles. if i remember correctly directfreak warped one of his axles when he initially did his swap and he still had the SE rearend.
