question on carb float measurements..

When measuring the float's do you measure from the gasket or from the metal? Also right under the float there is a cut out so do you measure from the bottom of the cutout or the lip that the gasket sits on?

i have the two adjustments from a carb kit, with the float upside down you measure 16mm (5/8 in) at the tip of float (not the needle end) and the other measurment with the float hanging down is 51mm (2in) at tip, you should adjust by bending the bend tang (lip that holds the needle), so i would measure from the metal.

Just don't scratch the contact surfaces of the needle tabs or binding/flooding can happen.

Hmmm, that sounds like that might be my problem while trying to set the float level. I need to check this out, thanks for the tip Sterling.
