Question on air intake

Has anyone taken the base of a stock air cleaner, cut in down and welded an aftermarket open breather to it, or is there one out there that will fit the neck on a stock Nikki?

Yes, I have done that, but its not welded back together, its riveted. So I could use my Firebird shaker hood scoop
