question about turboing a non turbo

hey guys i have a non turbo 13b and i wondering what it would take to convert it to turbo. i visited rotary shack and i thought that i could get a carb hat and then the turbo manifold and soon after that get the turbo. is their anything else i should do to prep it for the turbo application or is it not worth it. the 13b is out of a 92

It's worth it... It seems easy until you get into it. Plan for the car to be down at times... You could start with things that won't put you out of commission and ease into the project instead of hurdling the entire task at once... probally better that way so you get a feel for each area.

Once you decide what carb you are going to run you could get the feel for tuning that particular carb so you know it inside and out on the n/a. You can boost the nikki or go with the Weber both can have you running n/a until you are ready for boost.

Edit: Is the 13B in the car running running already...? If so what carb are u currently running..?

Well, whether or not its worth it is entirely up to you! If its out of a later model rx7, why not keep the fuel injection? I have a carb setup, and got my carb hat from rotary shack. If you search, there's plenty of information on this though. If you want to go carb, you'll obviously need a carb, a lot of people go with sidedrafts, apparently they are the easiest to prep for boost. Others uses holley's and I've seen a Weber IDA setup on here. From there, you'll need a higher pressure fuel pump, a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. You'll need to work out a oil feed and drain for teh turbo, I used -4 an line from the stock oil pressure sensor location on the block, and drained into the oil pan, though I hear that the front cover is a better place for a drain. You'll also need to at least retard your timing some. Ehh, there's a lot of little things to do along the way, but you'll figure it out.

So there you go... Holley blow-thru... go for it.

Get your fuel system up to par... like Sudox says, A EFI pump, MSD-2225 External In Line High pressure electric fuel pump $76.95 SummitRacing.com with a good regulator, Mallory #4309 Fuel Pressure Regulator has a nipple to raise the fuel pressure for every pound of boost.. you can use it n/a also for now to keep you running. The EFI pump will be pumping a good amount of fuel back to the tank since your pressure will not go up without boost, but that will keep the pump cool at the same time.

I used a GSL-SE front cover on my motor since there was already a indentation perfectly where the oil drain should be. The turbo motors have a factory splash shield behind that entry that bolts on rather easily with the front cover off.

Check this thread out it's in the archives... MikeyD's car ran low 12's in the 1/4 with a Weber blowthru from Rotary Shack.

Edit: Oooops forgot the link: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-archive-71/engine-turbo-rotary-part-s-prices-396506/
