Question Question about Silver Reverse Gauges convertion.

Hi, I was wondering if there a way to convert the 86-88 MAZDA RX-7 TURBO SILVER REVERSE GAUGES to make it fit on a 81 SE Rx7?

Not without swtiching in the entire guage cluster from an 86-88! And that's no easy task... I can't remember where you get the reverse glow guages for our car, but they're around!

Yeah, just buy the ones made for the 84-85 car. Get on Ebay and search for em, and I think www.procarparts.com has them too.

No mine is just plain 1981, not sure if GS, SE I mean they have so many models ****, is hard to keep with. So, if mine is a SE then is cool if not then what it is? GS? Non - named Rx7 model? Which gauges fits a 81?

Ok, no illuminated gauges for the 81-83 style interior, only 84-85 reguardless of trim level.

I heard there is a way to cutom cut the 84 one or something to make it fit into a 81 which some peoples have done. That is why I am asking if anyone here have done anything like that?

I think the only real way to do it right is to actually swap out the whole dash to the 84/85 dash. Not really worth it unless you have one lying around and your is 81 one is crap.

IF you can do that, then I am sure you could put the indiglow
gauges for a 2nd gen on the same instrument cluster.

They're just as illumnated as the stock gauges... They're not ElectroLuminescent (Generic term for Indiglo.)

Those gauges for 81-83 Rx-7s are pretty cool, but I dont think they work in an 82 model (not that it really matters to the thread, just adding information that someone may find usefull). The speedo only goes up to 85 MPH that year (at least that was the case with my old 82). It would be kinda funny to put them in anyways, make you feel like your going really fast!
