Question Question about a motor Conversion!

Hey guys. I have an '83 GS and the previous owner is trying to get me to put a TII motor in it.
Currently, we have the engine pulled because the apex seal is blown. I have another 12a that I can drop in it I just have to take the time and find a carb and fuel pump. I was just wondering how hard the conversion would be and if it was worth it. I can get the motor for hell of a deal. Go ahead and let me know what you guys think.

question is... is the TII motor compleat? are you going to convert it to EFI? or drop the TII motor and slap a carb on it?

doing a full TII swap will require alot more then just the motor, you need full wiring harness(unless you go standalone) computer, afm, all the sensors.

if you want you can just get the TII motor, swap the front coverplate, put on a GSL-SE oil pan, and slap a carb kit on it. and get a nice fuel pump and be done with it.

81Rex has what sounds like the best plan to me:

TII engine, carbed to avoid some stupid wiring problems, with a GSL-SE oilpan...

The bracket to take give the extra room for the 13b is available at www.racingbeat.com or you can custom-fab one if you have the facilities available to you. I don't know if the 12a trans is a direct bolt-in, but I *do* know that it's recommended that you use a TII tranny to be able to withstand the forces.

Check the archive for TII into GSL-SE thread. It's got a lot of great info. Even though it's for the GSL-SE, you can find alot of what you need to know to make a good decision.

If you're lazy and don't really want all that extra power at your fingertips (without any real weight gain!), then just drop the 12a in, buy the TII for that awesome price, then open it up for sale , I know if I had the money I'd buy it.

You can always buy the TII, swap the 12a in for now to get it running, and save up the $$ needed for the rest of the swap to be done properly.
