sell the Holley to a 17 year old and get a Nikki.

There was this old coot in upstate New York selling rebuilt ones.

He pretties them up a little much. but they work.

His name is Sterling

or get an FPR so you can get less gas to the carb

First of all if he just threw a random Holley on its quite possible that it needs rejetted. This is expecially true if it will idle but not rev - The car is just getting way to much gas. Is the choke manual or electric? If its electronic just wire it up and put it somewhere thats easy to get to when you start it. The oil lines - This is where I would encourage you to start mixing your gas/oil. There are a number of different two cycle oils out there - Your choice... depending on how much you want to spend per gallon. 5oz per gallon of fuel.

1 oz per gallon of fuel. Stock mix ratio is something like 150:1. I used to do 1 oz/gallon, so 128:1. You are recommending 25.6:1. Richer than almost any true 2-stroke engine. You will foul your plugs. Alot.

Get rid of the Holley and get yourself a Sterling, with a Carter pump and a Holley FPR, with a gauge from Billy at ReSpeed. You'll thank yourself.

Yeah, 5 oz to a gallon is WAY too much.... I do the same as whitey, 1 oz to 1 gallon of fuel. And I got a holley.......... they're not bad at all!!! Of course I'm having trouble right now but thats not the point........ I need a rebuild kit. Set your FPR to 5.5-6lbs I suppose. The racing beat setup wants 6 I do believe..... what CFM is the holley he put on?

I had the RB setup on my old FB. Pulled like a train when the secondaries would work. However, it's probably just some random Holley that isn't modified to work on the 12a, so he should get rid of the Holley and go with a Sterling. His performance will be comparable to the RB setup and it'll be less expensive.

If you can afford about 400 bucks, then definitely check into a Sterling carb. If you're looking for high performance, that is. Otherwise, grab a used Nikki and throw a rebuild kit on it..

the choke is mechanical.. and it is a 600 cfm... so i can get rid of the oil feed lines and just add it myself..i was reading up on the nikki's and saw the thread on removing the rats nest which he already did. he had the motor rebuilt and couldnt get it to run so he just quit.

You'd also need a blockoff plate for the metering pump.

Or a bucket to tie to the front of the engine, to catch all the oil.

I went to the site and I didn't see a spot on buying so I just thought I'd ask. And all I did about the OMP is I just took a small segment of line and hooked the two lines together. I didn't really see a need for doing the whole block plate thing and creating the possibility of having an oil leak there unless you already have it leaking.
