Question on 1980 coils

Looking at my 1980 while cleaning up the engine bay I noticed the left coil only has one of the rectangular connectors on it while the right has two. Also the left has one bare terminal. Is this correct or am I missing a plug?

BTW, left and right according to the first pic... Looking at the second it would be right and left as it was taken from the other side.
Thanks

Yep. That is normal. The extra wire on the leading coil is for the tach. The '81-'85 cars connect the tach to the trailing coil instead.

Yep, completely normal. The 80's used the lead coil for tach signal because some builds (CA for certain, and I think Fed also, but not Canada or Euro) shut down the trailing ignition under certain engine conditions to improve emissions. Thermal reactor requirement.

When the -7 went to catalyst exhaust in 81, there was no need to switch the trailing any more.

Great Thanks. I looked for that thing all over and didn't see signs of anything missing!
