Quest for opening the six ports
Ok, I went out and bought the materials that I need to open my ports and was getting ready to install them when I thought about putting some compressed air in the tubes to see which one activates it. I found that the tiny tube activates the ports when I thought it was the big tube that came out from under the intake manifold. When I used the compressed air the ports only turned part way. Is this bad?
I am so confused now. I was going to :
1. Run a tube from the air pump to a three way valve.
2. Run one side of the valve into the atmosphere (to bleed of the excess pressure until 4k)
3. Run the other side of the valve to another three way connector which then splits off and one tube goes to the pipe on the back side of the intake manifold, while the other goes to the tube near the acv.
I am confused in that I don't know what to do with the small tube. I think it's important.

My cats have already been taken off and the hoses are not connecting to anything. Were should the little hose go and what do I need to do to make the ports work.

if you are running racing beat header, u should get the presilencer with the air tube, but if you are running strait pipe, cut the pipe and put the racing beat presilencer with the air tube or a catalitic converter. i dont think that the air pump will help, and is gonna make alot of noise.

I don't care about the noise, and the air pump will work. I am using the air-pump to actuate the ports. I have searched and found some websites that explain how to do this, but they are notspecific about the small hose. If someone that has done this could send me some pictures I would much appreciate them.

This is How i did it on my -SE
I took the tube from the Airpump and put a spittler with adjustable METAL BALL valves. One side is ofcourse where the airpump goes into and another is just left open to bleed of excess air OR you could hook it up to the Big tube just to quiet it down.(I left it open) now the other side of the spittler has some fittings which reduced it to the size of the small tube and just hooked it up like that.
When you said that it only partially opened, what do you mean? The actuators didn't move very much or what?

What I mean by halfway opening is that they only seem to turn part-way. I did not have the motor running or anything. As for connecting the small tube what do I do with the tube that is supposed to supply air to the cats. I was under the impression that I needed to connect it in the set up as well.

The ports are supposed to turn fully with exhaust gas backpressure supplied to them, not air pump compressed air.
Why keep the airpump when you can run a hose to a fitting on your exhaust and get 6-port actuation?

Yeah I ran into the same thing. Just teed into the air pump hose..a tad tricky cause the hose is curved & quite short.
The larger hose supplies air into the cat mainly for emissions purposes. Right now, mine is just hanging there.
The smaller nipple normally connects to the cat split air pipe (which now you don't have). This is where the destination of the teed hose is.
The ports may not open in the exact same way, but they will open if enough pressure is supplied.
I personally think that the split air pipe idea is not a great design.
Mazda did have them opening off the Airpump in the 2nd gens.
