TX Quest for a A/C compressor

Now that my 7 is running, I'm looking to get the A/C blowing cold again. I've had a new reciever/drier sitting on my shelf staring at me for over a year now, so it's time before it gets hot outside.

Talked to my local hose guy and he can make me up all the new flex lines I need, so hopefully the only thing left is the compressor... But that's a big one.

Where do I FIND this compressor? What I have seems to be the Sanden port installed option (I've got a '85 12a S model) - but I've had some conflicting results as to what model number to look for, and when I do find compressors, they are missing the recharge ports that are present on the body of my particular compressor. I either need to find the right compressor with the recharge ports on the body, or have my hose guy make up some hoses with ports built in.
I had a local rotary guy that had A/C in his car, with a compressor that looked identical to mine, tell me Sanden 508 is the compressor I need, but no results I've found have the fill ports. With searching, I've also seen that SD-575 could be the port installed compressor number.

Anybody have a link or a place to go to find the proper compressor with the ports on the body? I want to buy a new, non reman unit if possible. Local guy already told me I'll most likely have the change out the back housing of the compressor. Planning to keep A/C in this car forever.
Or should I get lines made up to make this easier next time.

Here's a pic from a post I made last january that shows the recharge ports on the body of the compressor itself - note the strange things on the ports seem to be some R-134 adapter fittings someone screwed on there when they converted it at some point in it's life. Afaik under that is the old style small fittings for R-12.

Your line maker guy can crimp in some 134 fittings.

Another option is just get a 134 compressor and make that fit. Your hose guy will be able to make lines for it no problem. Just a matter of making a bracket for the compressor.

I found these listings for Mazda AC Compressors through the years. RX7's are about 1/3 of the way down. - Mazda A/C Compressors . Mine looked just like yours, and I think their was a Sanden label somewhere on it with serial #. Either remove it and look it over, or try with a mirror? That site lists 4 compressors used across the first gen from 79-85, but I looked each up and none look like yours.

Good luck.

Making another compressor fit is definitely possible if this doesn't work out, but shouldn't be necessary. This motor won't be in the car forever so I'm just trying to make the car as comfortable as possible for as cheap as possible for the meantime while I save up and gather parts.

I know the compressor has to be out there somewhere, since the guy had a newly remanufactured unit in his car, working. I'd just sure like to know where he found the dang thing. I know the sanden 508 units will fit in the existing brackets and work with the belts... the fittings are just annoying. I can definitely just have the hose guy fix that for me, but I'd still rather just have the proper compressor, if it's available out there. I'll keep waiting to see if someone knows or if I stumble across it for the meantime. I can see why so many people just say "screw it" and ditch their AC.

Go to Cold Hose.com

Sanden makes a modern, seven cylinder compresser with a higher cfm that will outperform the original, externally identical, and you can get whatever port set up you need.

they are not too expensive either.

Here is a link to the one the fit my setup, Im in the process of replacing everything in front of the firewall with a larger condenser, custom hoses, (I bought the tool to make my own hoses) and this updated compressor that has the ports to fit my setup.

@M_D_H
I found a picture of the one I removed from my car. It has the original factory ports and the Sanden tag visible.
SD-575 is the model #. Hope this helps.
