Pumpkin Swap?

I just got back from working on my 85GS for 3 hours trying to swap in a GSL-(SE?) pumpkin I got for my birthday last year... I canot get it to fit! What are the differences between the pumpkins? Do I seriously have to go find a GSL and pull everything else off it?

The GSL-SE and the GSL are a direct swap, all others are not. This is for 84- 85 models. The GSL is actually stronger and you will never notice the difference. As for the GS, from the info I have read from a quadzillion sites, they will not swap.

Oh chit, I read wrong you are trying to do the SE - GS swap. Nope won't fit, and neither will the GSL. The SE and GSL had bigger axles in 84 - 85. YOu will have to swap the intire rear along with the brakes, lines and all.

You have to grind down a spot on some of them to make it fit.

He has an 85, it will be a direct swap.

If you have the -se pumpkin, I have been told that there is a bolt that needs to be ground down a little to fit perfect. PM wackyracer and ask him. He showed me when I was buying one from him.

What year is the Diff. if it is 83 or less then your 84 or 85 axles will not fit.

The axles should fit if he has an 85, so I dunno. Keep trying to get those splines lined up I guess. Otherwise maybe it was made in late 83 and sold as an 84 and has the smaller axles?
