props to 1st gen's

I just want to give props to 1st gens. I drive an 88' Turbo2 and have never riden in a 1st gen until last night. Man those things can handle! My buddy took me for a ride in his, I think its an 83 or 84 but we he was doing some crazy very controlled slides and drifts around some wherehouses last night. It may not seem that big of a deal but I know my Turbo2 could never pull off some of the stuff he was. Sliding next to curbs around turns at speeds from 45-60mph made me realize you guys got some sweet cars! Anyway just my 2 cents.

Rob

jeremy, I have a brand new lsd in the mazda crate! This unit is for a 83' but you know you can use it in any of the cars with mods.

How much for that LSD unit?

I agree 200% with the motive of this thread!!! I'd primarily been in 2nd gens, never in a sportily driven 1st gen. But once I got to ride in a 1st gen driven hard, and THEN DRIVING it MYSELF, I fell in love. Plus, any $ I spend to make power in it will be a better deal than in the TII since it's lighter!

I remember the first TII swapped 1st gen I drove with big tires. Taking a cloverleaf, I kept tugging the wheel to turn a tighter circle. At a time the TII would have started to show it was sweating with it's heavier nose, the 1st gen could still turn in tighter yet with ease and just another pull on the wheel!

Unfortunatlly I have alot in this unit! I have to get $425.00 plus shipping(no more than $20 in 48 states) Again, this is brand new, never been installed! I checked with mazda and this unit goes for over $1600.00(of coarse that is a dealer).

This unit will fit perfectly in a 1983 rx7 (with disk or drum brakes).
If used in a 1981-82 models you will need to acquire a 1983-85 5 speed driveshaft (will fit disk or drum brake rear end)

Ummmmm Won't the spiders only accept either the small axles or big axles? 2 different beasts there. I know about the companion flange/driveshaft, but that's taken care of. OK, I research more like I should have, and see no more mention of big axles before MY 1984. So yours would be a small axle, which is what I want: Someone with a '84-'85 should be able to pop their spiders in the side to run it in their rear.

SORRY: Should have read better. "If used in a 1981-82 models you will need to acquire a 1983-85 5 speed driveshaft " You never said anything about putting it in the '84+, big axle rear end. SORRY about that!
