Exclamation problem: actuators WTF?

Help i'm ordering a header for my 13b swap and RB needs to know if i'm going to be using my actuators to open the ports?? wtf i have no idea noone ever posed this problem for me.. damn so i need help now how do they work. i'm going to be using a weber carb. we'll the guy i'm buying my carb from says just take them out so i guess i might should i keep them??

well with the stock exhaust setup on a 6-port 13b, the secondaries open up based on exhaust pressure from the cats i think. but if you've got a free flowing header'd exhaust, you won't be able to meter the exhaust pressure.

you've got a couple options for this:

you can take 'em out and wire the secondaries open: you lose about 10 ft/lbs below 4k, but keep max output.

you can take 'em out and wire the secondaries closed: you lose about 10 ponies off the top, but you retain the torque at lower rpm.

get all creative and figure out some sort of mechanical actuator. (there're a couple threads on the first page of this forum)

When you get the RB header, get the GSL-SE presilencer as well.. it has the backpressure sensing tube built right in and your 6 ports will be fine... you will need stock sending tube of the SE with it as well...it has a small vacuum nipple and a rubber hose that goes into the lower manifold, sending the needed 2 psi to open up the actuators.
