I recently acquired a 79 rx7 with 45000 miles on it. The car runs great except for a problem when I hit the gas. If I accelerate hard it runs smooth. If I'm sitting at a light, or in neutral, its okay. But once I take off, it sputters and jerks the car badly. I put a new fuel filter and fuel pump on it, which improved the performance somewhat, buts it's still not right. Someone told me it could be the points. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. i would look into the ignition, timing could be off or even the advance so when you get going to runs like crap. try and do a serach for similar topics to see what others have said.
