The reason I do it on my TII, is because it dirties the oil very quickly, and I do not want that crap injected into my housings. Plus, theoretically misting rotors/housings with oil through the injectors should be better than dribbling it with the MOP system. Not sure how this applies to carbed systems.

I don't premix on my -SE.

Yes if you didnt know, these cars have metering oil pumps which pumps small amounts of your crankcase oil up right into the carb to lube internals(yours is carb right-84 gsl?)

You can take off the MOP, make a blockoof plate(pretty easy), plug the carb, then just mix 1 ounce per gallon of 2-cycle oil or MMO.

The OMP, is on the front passenger side of the engine, It has 2 or 4 clear plastic lines comming out of it.

In a high-performance application you want to premix to keep from blowing an engine if the oil pump quits. 2-cycle oil is the least volitile. Of the 2-cycles, I prefer Lucas' Semi-Synthetic. The Wal-Mart stuff will work in a pinch (and is cheaper for DD applications).

The MOP is mounted on the front cover directly below the inlet pipe for the water pump. Generally you will see some lines creeping up the side of the engine towards the carb, or under the UIM for FI cars.

Just remove it, then use the existing gasket as a template to cut a block-off plate for it. 1/4 inch or more aluminum is good.

The just use some of that orange sealant goop to make a gastket for it and attach the plate.

I use about a quart of oil per 15 gallons, 60:1. 2 stroke oil. I normally use Pennzoil or Valvoline (though i don't like Valvoline much) all-purpose 2 stroke oil.

In the Haynes manual, and in the book "How to modify your Rx7", it states that the stock MOP puts out approximately 250:1, and is capable of 150:1,oil rich.
The mix I use is 150:1, .85oz. per. gal., or 8.5oz. per. 10gal., or 12.3oz. per. 14.5gal., 14.5gal. is the stock capacity if you were to run it dry before filling/mixing.
In the book it also states that the Camel Light race cars(late 80's),use 100:1 ratio, and a street engine fed this ratio will experience increased deposits on the spark plugs and possible fouling.
1qt. per. tank is 58:1

Youre talking about your 85, right? It should have like a 16.5 gallon tank. 81-85 has 16.5 and earlier has 14.5. im not sure about this though.

OK, i just found the info in the haynes: In the back, in the revision for later models(81-85) it says the tank in 16.4 gallons. And before that was 14.5

I dont think the haynes wil show how. ??? im not sure.

Once you take the omp off, youll see how to block it. Just one, flat piece of metal, with two holes the correct distance apart will do. I used the MOP itself as a template thing.

Stevan, what part of the haynes are you reading from?????
