Pre-fix 79 newbie pics

I was advised to post a pic of my RX-7 so y'all could "drool over your keyboards."

Hopefully it will be running and look a little better by the end of the summer.

I didn't have any mice after pulling it out from storage, but was housing both paper and mud wasps inside the driver's side fender.

Wow - that is pretty. The drooling quote was from someone who told post it no matter what condition it's in.

I truely didn't expect anyone to drool

My uncle (#1) had it a LONG time ago. He had his bro (my other uncle - we'll call him #2) paint it. Then #1 sold it to #2 a few years later. I wanted it (because I had an '82), but they didn't want to sell it to a young punk who would probably crack it up. So a few years later #1 bought it back from #2, replaced the hood and I think the engine too, and had #2 paint it again.

Then they had issues keeping it running at idle. They took it to 3-4 different Mazda mechanics and replaced a bunch of stuff, but couldn't get it working. So #1 sold it back to #2 and he was going to fix it. But he couldn't figure it out either. So they finally gave up and asked if I still wanted it.

Of course I wanted it, but am no mechanic. I asked my fellow National Guards buddies what they thought and they told me to run it and spray carb cleaner around the engine to see if it is a vacuum leak. When I sprayed down by the intake gasket, it revved up and I saw that the gasket was ripped. So I bought it and took it home. I fixed the intake gasket, drove it, and parked it until I had time to fix more.

Now it's 4-5 years later, and I'm ready to tackle it.

What's the paint code on your car? I'm seriously considering that color for my own SA down the road when I can spend the coin on a proper paint job.

I'll have to look around to see if I can find it. I found a code on the web a while back that I thought was the right one...I'll try to find it again. The color is sonic bronze metallic.
