I am in southern cali north of san diego and south of LA, (Camp Pendleton). Does anyone know where I can take my car out and play with it: drifting, donuts, 1/4 mile, race a friend, whatever, without having to fear cops? I like to avoid driving like a dumbass on the road. Thanks!!!

 

Best to take it up to Willow Springs Raceway and pay the bucks to get on track. You can go the Calendar section and find out what club is renting the track and register with the club.

autocross is your friend. look up your local sports car clubs for events in your area.

What he said. You can drift through a Solo II course to your heart's content. When you're done with that, you can watch the older guys and learn a thing or two about how to drive quickly.

 

Theres a 1/4 mile dragstrip in Carlsbad, and 2 autocross event left at Qualcomm Stadium this year.
