@ ioTus
..Okay thought I missed major news there somehow on the Jetta RP swap... I've heard of FC front subframe swaps but that's a bit above my capabilities.

@sevens4me
My 7 has really low miles, like 52-ish. I HOPE my box isn't in the "worn" category yet. Definitely needs adjusted but don't think it's worn. I'd have to disassemble the box and check the valve housing, worm shaft, valve and ***** like they outline in the FSM to know for sure. Once suspension is redone I'll see how much I have to slap around the steering box. Hopefully just a sector gear snugging is all I'll need at that point. Thanks for the input about the bigger wheels and manual box effort, I recently went to staggered Apache IIs 15x7 front and 15x8 in back.

Perhaps the power steering box is different, or they differ year by year? Here's what mine looks like:

Thanks iotus. Found there are 2 manual boxes...79-80 and 81-85 (yours and mine respectively). On early boxes, you adjust via flat head screwdriver on center bolt. On later boxes, you adjust via the drilled nut. More detailed instructions can be found on mazspeed.com website. Hope this helps anyone reading this thread. I'll be attempting this myself when I find the time.
