Angry power loss

This is what is happening. After letting my GS auto warm up. I take off, pedal to the floor. It tachs out at about 6K, no problem. Shifts into second and travels up to about 3K and then basically all power is gone. It starts to jerk and there is no pick up, the car just goes flat. I can cruise my way up in speed but when the pedal goes to the floor, it will jerk and sputter. The problem comes and goes. I was thinking fuel pump. I have a fairly new filter. You got me.

You are likely correct about the fuel pump. Sounds like it is not supplying enough volume.
Could also have a restriction of some sort in the fuel line.

My car's doing the same thing. I first eliminated the possibilities of it being the fuel supply. It turns out that my carburetor needs a rebuild. So I'm replacing it with an edelbrock 400 and a racingbeat intake manifold!

PS It would be good to get a psi guage for your fuel line.

Change your fuel filter first. That's the #1 cause of high demand power loss.
