Possible Oil Leak Spot

My car seems to be leaking from underneath this area. I need suggestions as to what to look for to find the source of the leak and if there are any other areas prone to leaking oil. Thanks.

See photo of leaking area...

That looks like the area of the screw for a engine block heater, not oil. I have my water temp sensor plug in that area. You could be leaking from your bee hive (if an early car) or from the o rings in the oil filter gasket which is above this location.

Is the sender for a gauge? If so, which one?

I have no idea really what this is as my experience with rotary engines is rather limited. It's an '84 GS and it's really dirty under the hood so it's sort of hard to tell what anything is at this point. I've been trying to clean it up but it's an ongoing process. I was guessing that there are a few o rings and seals that need to be replaced since the car is so old and hasn't been worked on much in recent memory.

Clean the engine first. You can use even the kitchen stuff such as 409 degreaser. Let the engine warm up, then spray it with 409 and finally rinse it with water (high pressure).
