Poor idle, engine misfire on 84 12A

Good catch TomaSoft, I missed when he wrote that. I also lost an engine due to a broken apex seal, and at idle the engine shook very badly. I'm afraid that he might be on the right track. Either pull the exhaust manifold off so you can look into the exhaust ports while rotating the motor, or perform a compression test to find out for sure.

Well I bit the bullet and took the car into the local Mazda dealer. They performed all kinds of test and could not find any faulty parts. Then they ran a compression test and found low compression on rotor two. So I guess I will be needing a engine. Does anybody have good leads as to where I can buy a good used or rebuilt 12A engine? I need to explore all options. Any ideas why an engine fails with regular maintenance any faily easy driving. This my first RX-7 that did not make it to over 200,000 miles. Thanks for any and all responces.

Sorry for your engine man.
I hate to be right this time.
Have a look at e-Bay if you are searching for a really cheep engine.
How many RX7s did you have till now?
I had hell allot of them, but none of them reached 200.000 miles with its first engine.
