It looks like you either stripped your bumper strips or color-keyed them to your car. Either way, it looks fantastic! So much incredibly, fantastically better than stock, I almost feel like I have to pay you to see it....what does she run in the quarter? Any ideas? How about some interior pics next? Done anything there? Hmmm?

My 2 cents

I'm a big fan of the color keyed bumper moldings, door mirrors and handles ala Series 5 2nd Gens. Maintains the classic lines, albeit more subdued and ties them into the car itself. Alot like a regular 1st Gen in Black paint.

I'm also a big fan of rear and side skirts, providing a bit wider body look while still maintaining the basic classic lines.

I'd pass on the front air dam. Been there, done that Mariah style. But no matter how careful I was, I kept scraping the dang thing. Never seen one that wasn't scraped. Besides, Mazda fattened up the front well enough when they transitioned from the SA to FB body design tweaks.

If you shave door could be ok. But side body grooves breaks the lines of the car and gives it a lower profile look. Without, has the opposite effect. Also, without to me looks like one of those clay model "basic" concept cars you see at the auto shows.

But ultimately, if it looks good to the owner, that's what looks best to the owner. Isn't that what really matters?

Mar3... with that kind of attitude towards RX-7's, no wonder they'll never be worth anything. You might be into making your RX-7 look like a "baby Ferrari" but I think many people on here are into preserving the original look of the RX-7. You might think it's dated, and that's kinda the point. SA's and FB's ARE 80's sports cars! If you are somehow ashamed of that or want to mask it in some way, go ahead... but why dont you just buy a newer car and save yourself some of the trouble??

Contrary to your beliefs, good condition ORIGINAL CONDITION RX-7's ARE fetching quite a premium in todays market. And 10-15 yrs from now, I can promise you that the people on here that are keeping their 7's totally stock or near stock will be grinning from ear to ear when all those grown up teenyboppers from the 80's want to buy a piece of their childhood.

My 78 Savanna which I picked up last year was not cheap (when compared to other 1st gen going rates). Why? Because it was stock and because the car is a time warp to 1978. This is very desirable to me (and others), and will continue to become MORE desirable as most hopped up or rusted out RX-7's end up in the junkyard.

People said the same thing about the 240ZX... "It'll never be worth much... it's just a Japanese econo car". Surprise! Have you seen the going rate for a mint condition, perfectly maintained original 240ZX?? The RX-7 is NEXT IN LINE for that status. I hate to say this, but once the many rust buckets and "baby ferraris" die, I promise you'll see the value of nice SA's/FB's skyrocket. Not to extreme heights (that's in 50 years ), but they'll be worth ALOT more than what they are going for now.

I can't believe so few people are voting for shaved door handles. I like the look of shaved door handles and stock lines. I have attached my photoshop rendering of it.

Looks Good.

If I had to, I would shave just the locks, and dip the handles in chrome.

Stock for ever!

Taking the side strips off gives you the pregnant slug look.

Keep the lines, but the body kits are just ick. Too "plastic" looking for me. After that, I don't know what I want! I just want to make the intercooler im going to have stick out as much as possible. I may just mod the original facia.

I took all the lines out and the locks, but left the handles. I hadn't had a problem with people trying to break in anymore, and it looked sweet! If you are going to take the lines on the side out, maybe consider taking the hood lines out too. I did that, and it looked great! Now I have a "new to me" 83 GS that I am trying to go all stock with. It just depends what you want to do with it. Truth is... You're the only one who has to look at the car all the time, so get done what YOU like.

I think a lot of people might vote totally stock because they haven't seen a bald RX-7. That yellow one looked killer. I want to change my vote. Anyways I am keeping my 7 stock looking, because i want it to be a sleeper someday, so it won't attract too many cops, and when i have it supercharged some day people in their V8's will see my "stock" (yea right) RX-7 blow them away. hehehe. Then they will go buy an RX-7.

i just gutted my rx-7... it had a keypad... from the 80's.. nothing digital... kinda like a telephone keypad... that you had to enter a number in to get the car to start... then, there's an internal key mechanism that locked the hood and the trunk from the inside... (that was hidden) as well as two kill switches, one for the power to anything... and another for the starter... as well as a door lock mechanism... under the door... so that you had to kick it with your foot.. to even get the door to open... it was a total lock-down machine.... lol
