I'm thinking about putting some TSX trailights on mine but change the bulbs to LED.
Or just shave them, dunno.

Oh that would be interesting. Maybe you should try it and see how it turns out. As for me I had a dream about some weird custom lights on my car so that is why I woke up all sleepy to post this here to see what have everyone done to their FB as far as front lights and taillights go.

ive seen 3 different things done to the taillights....some go for the clear tails (remove colored lenses and replace with colored bulbs) some go for the s5 tails (black out everything but 3 circles) and i saw something really ugly...it was just circles like an old vette...3 seperate lenses...*shivers at thought*

Blah!I cring everytime someone asks me why I didnt go with clear tails or S5 tails or somn'.The factory ones are fine with me,they even have a bit of style being smoked.Maybe Im just getting old,but I cant figure out why in the hell everyone wants to waste money on modifying their tailights. And yes,I know everyone wants a unique car, look at mine for Christ's sake. But if everyone does it(and they do) then its not unique.....and their just tailights, its not like it redifines your car or anything.
For the record,I did modify my headlights in the interest of safety, areodynamics and weight reduction.MidTennMiata flush headlight kit recut and modded with Hella 90MM pods. Not perfect, but bright, smooth and original.

Hey bkm_rx7, Thanks for the info and I do understand what you mean about the old corvette thing hehe.

Hey steve84GS TII, like always your project impress me alot. Like the lights and the front bumper. Where did you get the front bumper and how you made it looks like that with that kind of opening between the bumper and the hood?

Hey BadAssRX-7, I also like your lights they are nice. How much a kit like that cost or any tutorial in how to make it?

The lights are homemade/on-off,like most of the work on my car. They were originally MidTennMiata flush kits.I had the covers re-cut to match the FB lids, then trimmed the buckets to fit and replaced the cheesy,non-legal lights with Hella DOT approved 90mm projectors.I would have gone Hella on both, but they are quite big and wouldnt fit in the buckets. The rounds inner lights are my lowbeams and are very effective. The rectangular lights are highbeams and just kinda flood the light out there along with the lowbeam projectors.
The bumper and fenders are off the shelf Mariah Mode 1 widebody with a few custom quirks. The oil cooler vent is just cut into the stock header panel.Used a pin nibbler to cut the sheetmetal. The inlet is boxed into the main oilcooler with aluminum sheet, then it flows through the upper pass of the Howe radiator, then exits out the hood extraction vent.Very effective setup. There is also an aux. 300ZX turbo oil cooler in the drivers side chin vent.

Looks great. the hood design looks very efficient. so the air goes through the FMIC then through the radiator? great work. Is the project complete?

The radiator has its own dedicated scoop under the IC,so it gets a good dose of ambient air,in addition to the preheated air exiting the IC and oil cooler. The whole thing works superbly.I did everything but windtunnel test it when I planned it all out.The only thing Im lacking it cooling vents to the front brakes, but for the size/weight of my car I doubt they will ever fade..

Its done yes.Its consumed enough time and money,I dare say Im sick of working on it,I just want to drive and enjoy the finality. The only other mod Im considering(heavily) is a 20B.Not to go into the car right away, cause I dont want to down the car for a long time(it is my daily driver).
Ill get a full Cosmo clip, strip it, and set the 20B up on a running cradle,Then slowly clip away at the huge dash wireing harness until I figure out what is needed for the engine to run on its stock ECU and not get pissed.A bone stock 20B would give me more torque and no lag.Plus itd be uber unique to have a stock ECU,twin turbo, smoggable 20B running in a 5 speed FB chassis.'Course Id add a downpipe,intake,flwheel,ect...to spice it up.

wow a finished project... never saw one of those before
no seriously, that car is great. Why going 20B? It'd mean the whole under the hood setup needs reworking, now where it looks so good.
My own project goes extremely slow lately, but at least I get some fresh energy when I look at Steve's car.

I just love the sound of a 20B,and the idea of on-demand torque appeals to me.Plus its just plain original
Its also an excuse to pickup an FC front end and massage it to fit.The FC front X-member would also kill a few other birds in one shot.
First,20B motormounts for FCs are cheap and availible,so its an easy bolt up.I can prep both the engine and X-member to work in the FB,mount them up,then install both simultaneously from below to minimize the chance of paint damage.
Second, even bigger brakes than now, since you can easily get 13" upgrades for TII's.
Third, manual FC rack and pinion to replace the marginal CP racing R&P.
And fourth, its a perfect excuse to really clean up under the hood. While Im not overly concerned with engine bay cleanliness, itd be nice to really polish up under there since its never been done.Car was orginally black,so I just let it be....

The cost of a Cosmo clip is a drop in the bucket compared to the eight years of work Ive got into it now.Plus the 20B has more in common with the S5 TII engine than the FD engine, its kinda a mutt.Im reasonably sure I can figure it all out, since Ive got TII wiring and ECU control down, pat.
Worse case scenario is it doesnt work and I sell the 20B.....like that'll be hard!
