Exclamation Please Help! Starting Problems!!!

I have an 83 GX 5 Speed. So here's my problem. I go to start my car and it turns over VERY VERY slowly. I thought it was the starter so I replaced the starter today. It's still doing the same thing except it turns a bit faster... just enough to get it started. It starts out very very slow and gradually gets faster. I have to crank for about 10 seconds before it gets going fast enough to start. It seems as though something is stealing the power to the starter??? I've checked and cleaned all the wires leading to the starter and still that does not help. The old starter had 8 teeth, and the new starter I put in today has 11 teeth. The battery is brand new. But the thing is, if I give it a boost then it gives it enough power to start no problem. I've been searching the forums and haven't found a thing regarding my problem. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you still have the oem positive battery cable, they are aluminum, they tend to corrode internally, inside the sheathing, and rob power. Replace it with a good copper one.
