Please help me out. Two fuel tanks pictured. Will one replace the other??

I've needed a fuel tank for my 79 for the past few months. I've found a guy on this site who has one for sale, but he's not too sure of what model it came from. He thinks it's an early series. Anyway, before I purchase he sent me a few pictures. My original tank is the first picture posted. His is the second. I've circled a couple areas of concern to me. Please let me know if you know for certain whether or not the two tank will interchange. If you know what year his tank is, that would be great.
Thank you so much,
~Jason

It is my understanding that the '79 and 80s have smaller gas tanks to allow for a full size spair. Later models have a larger gas tank and will not fit unless the spare tire hump is made smaller. I can't really tell from the pics if there is any difference where the spair tire is.

Yeah, my tank has a pretty deep area for the spare tire. What's the deal with the fuel lines. My tank has 4...his only has 3, but has an area stamped out where one is supposed to go??? More ideas?

Tell him to pour it full. Should only hold 12 Gallons if it is a 79.

I thought I saw a thread once that had pics of all the first gen tanks. I looked, but I couldn't find it. I did find this thread:

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/84-85-fuel-tanks-facts-416682/

It shows S3 tanks, which don't look like either of your pictures to me. At a guess, I'd say your seller has a S2 tank. Someone around here knows for sure, though.

Found a S2 tank pic:

Looks to me like my guess was right, although your seller's pic is very hard for me to see.
