BAD ground, bad power connection, corrosion on terminals, possibly a bad fuse link (drivers strut tower, one in the middle)

just out of curiosity, what did you replace the fusible link with?

as long as you know the battery is FINE, i would probably agree with mike-p-28 and say it's bad ground. aside from that, i'm out of ideas ... sorry.

The one time I ever saw a vehicle lose complete power when everything seemed connected properly it was due to a ruptured battery pissing out all its electrolyte.

of course, that one had been shot - literally.

In your case however it's probably something far simpler. Had it been the battery the alternator would have run the car for a while, not sudden catastrophic failure...

i gaurantee a bad connection to the battery. if you have aftermarket cable ends with paint, make sure and scrape off the paint where all metal joins. clean up the battery posts, clamps, and make sure everything there is metal to metal. msd, etc. if you look closely you might find burn marks where it arced.

There's also an actual "engine" fuse in the fuse box right next to your left knee as you sit in the driver's seat facing forward looking out the windshield...

I had a bad ingnition switch, but it would cut out intermitatly, and then finally, after about two years it stopped working. $10 at the junk yard, and no problems since.

A bad ingnition switch would do what you described above. Try hot wiring the car and see if runs, that would narrow it down to the ignition switch.
