Unhappy Please Help Me!!!

Hi everyone! I am new to this whole thing even though I have had my Rx for a while.
It is an 84 gsl and I blew apex seals, I replaced the engine and took all of my emissions off because of all of the vacuum leaks was making it run lean therefore blowing my seals. So now I am stuck. The new engine has awesome compression, and all of the plugs are firing, the carb is putting gas into the engine, and it turns over and almost wants to start but only fouls the trailing plugs out, not the leading. I tried pull starting it behind my dads truck but still no dice. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I am pretty sure that it is timed, When I put the distributor in I lined up the two marks, If there is another way let me know.
No it came out of a running car, it has 60K on it

push/pull starting a rotary doesn't work very well.

I have to disagree with that, A pull start is best way to start a flooded or even a half bad engine.

Well, when we pull started it, it almost wanted to run, then, again, the trailing plugs fouled out. I love my car and love driving it but this is just frustrating the **** out of me.

Are you sure the new engine is good? Getting full spark on all 4 plugs. Have you chaged the plugs? NGK?

Are you sure on the compresson on the rear?

Yes the engine came out of a good running car, all plugs are firing, Plugs are good and NGK

If i take the plugs out and turn it over I can hear both rotors sucking and blowing strong.

The trailing makes little difference on how well the engine will run. Concentrate on the leading first and get it running. If the trailing plugs are fouling out quickly, you may have a fueling issue, timing, spark etc.

did u see this engine run or were u told it ran? where did the engine come from? junk yards, to my knowledge, sell an engine complete. just sticking the dist in doesn't do any good if the engine isn't set at TDC.

Was the Dizzy removed at some point?

Could it just be really bad flooded? Pull the dip stick and see if the leval is high, smells like gas?

If bad flooded, pour a cap full of oil down each primary bore and then pull start again, use 2nd or 3rd gear. Would not hurt to replace the plugs (use antiseize) also it can help if you pull them and spin it over a few times to clear it.

you're not really starting a flooded engine by pulling it, you're turning it and letting the excess fuel out, solving the flooded condition.

In my experience a rotary doesn't respond to push/pull starting as well as a piston engine does. We'll have to agree to disagree.

I got the engine from AIM tuning in Indiana, and was told that it ran good, it came without a distributor so I had to put the one in from my blown engine, from what the mechanic at my dealership says, I need a timing light, I borrowed a light and I will work on it this weekend when I go home, I dont think that the engine was set at TDC when I put the dist. in, so I am pretty sure that is my prob. Thank you for all of your help, I will let you know what happens.
