for starters what state do you live in? That will help narrow down engine builders withing your area.

A streetport should be cheap, my local guy here quoted me about 250-350 for a street port. To get any power out of that you need at least a modded nikki carb and a new free-flowing exhaust. To buy all the bolt on parts it'll cost about 500-800 for the exhaust, 300-800 for the carb upgrade (depending on if you get a modded nikki or like a tuned holley or something), plus shipping so add another 150-300 depending on how far away from these places you live. You can save some cash if you do something like have a muffler shop fab you up some straight pipes to either a borla muffler (cheapest good muffler I've seen on the forums) or just straight out to the open air.

In the end to do it right it will probably still cost you at least 1500 bucks. You might get lucky and find some deals though.

Do you have the means to do it yourself??
You can find some streetport templates on ebay, Ive seen them before, and as long as you are at least somewhat skilled, you can get a dremel and go at it. BUT FIRST find ALL the info you can on it (common mistakes, pros, cons, ect) That would by far be the cheapest way to do it, A good dremel is no more than $80, a flex shaft $40, bit assortment $25, and I say the template for $65. Assuming you already have an engine hoist, and proper exhaust/intake for porting.

It would also be a good idea, to get upgraded bearings, oil pump, stationary gears, larger radiator.. . I know thats wayyy more expensive now, but youll save yourself headache in the future, plus youll be much better off to run high rpms!!!

If you dont feel comfortable doing it, by all means have the pros do it!! Most shops are reputable, and will warranty their work to a point. Also theyll notice anything else that the motor may need.

Good Luck
