and if that doesn't work, you prob need to lube up your throttle cable...

I appreciate your help, but I have allready tried the carb cleaner and sprayed the hell out of everything and still have the same problem. I am thinking that it is a problem with the secondaries because sometimes they don't work other times they stick. Maybe a vacuum problem? At any rate I also tried to convert the carb to mechanical secondaries but it also stuck. Any and all help is appreciated.

the big bundle of wires that runs in front of the engine bhind the t-stat, was binding my linkage to carb when i put the air filter housing on too tight onto the carb, might want to leave the filter cover off and test drive and see if that was pinching the wires against the linkage.......good luck

BILL,
I agree with Donna, look for something binding up the throttle linkage or cable. Vacuum is not going to hold the secondaries or primaries open, it has to be binding somewhere. You may have to take all of the linkage loose and clean/lube it.
By the way, how do you know that sometimes your secondaries work and sometimes they don't?

Hanman,
I can tell because sometimes there is a servere lack of power. I checked linkage and cable allready and everything seems fine? I think something may be dirty/binding in carb? That would keep vacuum from operating secondaries right? What are throttle plates and where can i find them?
Thanks again.

throttle plates are inside the holes of your carb--they are the circular plates that control how much air flows into the engine... the two bigger ones should be your secondaries and the two smaller are your primaries...

could be the secondary opening diapham thingy. If it is pierced it could cause you to lose vacuum signal. There are four screws on the part that houses the diapham and spring. As for the throttle sticking i dont know.

The throttle plates are connected to a rod that runs through the carb. Two plates for the primaries and two plates on the secondaries. If you hold open the throttle by hand, the secondaries should be free to open. You should be able to open and close them by hand very easily. If not they are binding on something.
Worst case scenario, maybe you should take the linkage apart and clean and lube it.
