please help

Well,When i got home i noticed smoke coming from my engine so i looked at the water temp gauge and it was hotter than normal but not too bad but it was rizing quickly so i shut the car down and opened the hood.a few seconds later i looked under the car and discovered that i was leaking antifreeze really fast so i guessed a hose split or something,I let the car cool down and then put it on ramps and went under the car to see that i was missing my freeze plug and noticed a split in my hose (im almost positive its this one at the very bottom of this link) http://mazdatrix.com/bhose1b.htm
Anyways i guess i will order this hose off of mazdatrix however i did not even see a freezeplug on mazdatrix.Anyways i need to know what size freezeplug i need and another question i wanted to know was how did this happen? I think the hose split first but i have no idea where that freeze plug went and im hoping that my water pump is not bad.My real question is: Is it easy to replace this hose and the freeze plug?Im 17 yrs old and dont know a whole lot about cars but im learning more everyday and im pretty good at replacing things. Also,Is it hard to replace the waterpump and where is it at?
BTW this is a 1985 Rx-7 GS.
I know this is alot of questions but i need your help so any help is much appreciated
Thanks,
Aaron

Thats a very common hose to fail, like they said, because of oil saturation from the filter changes.
Id pull it and examine for tears and bulging.Probably best to change all the heater hoses down there if you can afford it.Just dont let that engine overheat.Heat=death for a rotary.
There are some freezeplugs on a rotary, but only a couple, and they rarely give any trouble.Which one was missing? Can you get a pic?

yeah, thats the one. happens all the time. i would suggest to replace them all also. just for good jestures. and the water pump is pretty easy to replace, you just gotta pull the engine.
no, just kiddin. you can replace it as it sits. not many bolts either. just remember that when you pull it, your going to pull the other housing off too. happens all the time. so get bith gaskets. otherwise you're gonna be having to go get one. good luck. and yeah, pics are nice to have.

What about the freeze plug? Can i just get one at any auto parts store or is it special order? Also is the freeze plug 30mm and why would the freeze plug come off from just a leak?Is that common?
Thanks a lot guys,
Aaron

Loosing a freeze plug is highly unusual and unlikely. Please post a picture if you can or try to describe it's location very well. I'll bet that's it's not a freeze plug you're missing.

Replacing these hoses is a PITA, but like others said, they go bad frequently due to oil drips during oil changes and leaky cooler o-rings. If you've still got the beehive cooler, think about replacing it with a cooler from a pre-83 FB or with a FC cooler.

The whole that i think is where the freezeplug should be is about 1 foot towards the rear of the car from the oil change nut.The hole has no threads and is about the size of a quarter.I am trying to find a pic but i have not found one yet so if anybody has a pic of the underbody then please send it to me then i will circle the part that is missing.
Thanks alot,
Aaron

Okay, as the guys all mentioned before that hose fails all the time. I replaced mine 4 times in under 30,000 miles. *Note* we have very bad roads out here, lots of gravel and stuff. The plug you may be missing (Im keeping in mind 17 years old not much rotary experience) may actually not be a freeze plug hole but a rubber dust stopper for observing components. A pic will resolve any mystery, but i think I speak for the rest of the guys out there without a pic we are kinda stabbing in the dark.
