pitman arm stuck.

Well I have been trying to take my pitman arm off and can't get it to budge. So far I have bent two pitman arm pullers using penetrating oil and 1/2 impact gun with no luck. I was thinking of heating up with a torch and then trying. I soaked it good with penetrating oil and am going to go at it again tomorrow. Any ideas on what I can do?

It's actually coming off of an rx2 and you can't get them anymore so I am taking it off and having it sent out to be rebuilt. Hence the cutting off method is not an option or it would have been off a long time ago.

Ask wackyracer. He loves working (stealing) on those things. He'd probably know how to deal with it.

Use a pitman arm puller, you can rent them at autozone or wherever.

Actually, in his first post he said he's used two pitman arm pullers and bent them both.

I'd say use a heavy dose of PB Blaster. Soak that bitch up and let it set overnight. Maybe that'll help.

get a puller and put the arm under a lot of tension, not enough to break the puller but a lot of tension. add heat then let cool. add heat then cool. this process will expand and contract the metal dislodging and rust on the splines. it should pop off.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking of trying next. I soaked it up pretty good last night and am going out to try again. I'll keep you posted.
