With pineapple 6port racing sleeves, are the actuators needed?

I need a little tech help. My 5th6th port actuators are seized and the vaccuum hose is blocked off. Someone said to get pineapple 6port racing sleeves, but will I still need the actuators to work, and if so, where can I buy them and how much? Thanks.

They will work with and without working actuators.

ok, but which will produce more hp. I am thinking that without the actuators working, it will increase hp, but not help much at low rpm. I will get the sleeves, pull off the actuators and try to fix em, otherwise they get the boot.

When my port actuators were not working, it was not because the sleeves were jammed, or the actuators that were not working, it was those two bolts that connect the metal air tube to the lower intake manifold, they were very rusted and the air could no longer make its way though.

Just something else you might want to check, but be advised that the bolts are very fragile and if they are rusted like mine were, they are sure to snap off on the 1st 1/4 turn

No, no, no. You won't make more horsepower, but you will make the intended peak hp for the car. Get them working properly and you'll thank yourself. We don't have enough torque to just say "screw it".

I wouldn't recommend removing them until you're at a modding stage well beyond that of a street driven car.

Of course, there are conflicting opinions on this subject. If you want to hear ALL of them, enter the 2nd gen forum and ask the question: How much hp gain do I get with no actuators? Fun.
