hmmm.. i wouldnt consider it ugly as sin... im certainly not an RX purist either, so i judge it by my main two criteria:

does it add unnessicery weight? (an engine is nessicery weight
does it improve the usage of the vehicle (mobile or not).

in this case: "i dont know" and "either way" would be my answers. but 6k is WAAAAAY to much, unless its the 4 second turbo 26B driven by jesus himself.

I have always wanted to know what a 1rst gen would would lokk like with a Lambo door kit. Now I know. Does anyone know if this car belongs to someone in this club? I would really like to show them how it makes me feel about it.

The thing I hate is that parking spaces are getting too small. That and people can't park there armored personel carriers/chevy suburbans straight.

I drive compact vehicles and I never use the compact spots. Yes, maybe I've added a couple pounds since college but when you can't get in your car because there is only eight inches to open your door what else are you going to do.

I have considered this for pure function only. Although I wouldn't do it though if it looked totally bad, like on the hondas. But I think that it actually looks good on the RX-7.

Like the Lamborghini's the RX-7's doors are long so doors look better when open. The square doors of a Honda don't look so good vertical.

Also $6K may not be bad. The details were not posted but consider this, I have $5K into my drive train and I still need paint, $3K for a professional factory like paint job, plus I still have need interior.

So if it has new good quality paint, which it looks like it does. New interior and new drivetrain I don't think it is out of line.

I personally don't like it. Although the FB itself is very clean. Hopefully he did not make that mod a permanent one. From the pics, looks very uncomfortable to get in and out. Here's details to that ride:

YOU'RE LOOKING AT A ONE OF A KIND MAZDA RX7. THIS CAR WAS BROUGHT FROM CALIFORNIA AND HAS NO RUST. IT FEATURES LAMBORGHINI DOORS WHICH GIVE IT IT'S APPEAL. IT ALSO SPORTS A 12A ENGINE IN PRIME CONDITION. IT HAS 44K MILES ON THE REBUILT ENGINE AND RUNS GREAT. HAS MODIFIED EXHAUST. SPORTING A UNIQUE INTERIOR. WILL ADD MORE PICS SHORTLY. CAR HAS LOTS OF RACING BEAT PARTS. VERY NICE AUTOBAHN RIMS WITH 205/50-15ZR KUMHO EXCTA MX TIRES. Car also includes a hard wired radar and laser detector. The seats are original buckets with grey sheep skin seat covers. Engine and transmission are mostly stock, it has a Racing Beat header and free flow exhaust with stainless steal muffler, Racing Beat air cleaner with K&N air filter, and racing beat spark plug wires. Transmission is original 5 speed, and has new clutch, pressure plate ,throw out bearing, pilot bearing, clutch master and slave cylinders. Has recently been serviced, including cap, rotor, and plugs, oil and filter change, and all fluids. fluids in engine and drive train are all synthetic from amsoil. suspension mods include Racing Beat springs and sway bars, also has Racing Beat strut brace. Has koni shocks on rear and adjustible koni struts on front. I'm currently installing an in dash motorized tv with tv tuner and dvd player. Also includes original owners manual, factory service manual, Haynes repair manual, Performance upgrade manual, and many classic copies of Rotory Rocket, and the RX7 report. And an all weather car cover.

sounds like a real good deal to me with all that has been done to the car, the door kit is about thirteen hundred bucks.

I seen where you can get those hinges from lambo themselvs for around $200 a hinge, so $400 for the pair. dont forget to get left and right ones.

That space to crawl out looks small as hell.

looks cool, i think some of you guys are just jealous

but seriousely im no ricer and i think it adds another unique feature to the car...

i dont think its quite an appropriot car (rx7 in general) for a dvd play since just 2 pple can watch,, but i am a hypocrite because the computor i will use for tuning has one...

the hole you crawl out of does look small but its probably just the angle..

i would love to have those on my car just for parking space...

Paul

On a mustang, the lambo's added 60 pounds, and cost $3000 to be done. That's what the owner said anyway. Lambo's look cool , but 60 pounds and $6K is too much for my tastes.

If I had to sink $3K into my $600 car, I'd go for those spinner rims.......!!

I had a freind in Seattle that owned a Canada Produced Panther
(I Think that's where the car came from).
Anyhew the car had this style Door Set-up and I'm 6ft5" 215lb and could not get in the Panther!
I've mastered getting in and out of my 84 and 6 other 1st Gens for years now and looking @ this Car I don't think us big guys or gals would work to well.
Maybe its the angle as earlier stated!
No Thanks!!!!
