pilot bearing seal

Okay, I finally have a chance to finish this, but I can't figure out how the pilot bearing seal goes in.

One side is rubber, one side is... less... rubber but which side goes inward, that is, points to the pilot bearing?

By the way, when I grease the pilot bearing, just how much do I use? Do I have to pack it in between the two peices?

Okay, I packed it using the bouis method (a heavy plastic bag and some squeezing) and tapped it into the shaft, but I don't know how far it's supposed to go in.

And I still don't know how to orient the seal. Com'on, folks.

Dont fill the cavity completely or the tranny input shaft wont go in. It'll form a hydraulic lock when you try to push it past the seal. Tap it all the way in.

On the seal. It should be sorta hollow on one side (talkin about the metal shell) IIRC, its been a while. That hollow side faces the bearing.

Don't worry, I'm not going to fill the eccentric shaft. Well, I nearly did, but I used a clutch alignment tool to force all the excess out.

My seal is a metal ring with a rubber ring inside of it. The rubber ring is wider [toward the center] on the edges than it is in the middle. One side's rubber is wider than the other. I assume that this is the hollow side you're referring to.

Thanks a bunch, btw, carl.

Crap I cant really remember man. Isint the rubber chamfered in the center? I think the chamfer (taper) tapers towards the front.
