Pictures of my Mazdatrix 12A streetport (install)

I finally got around to posting some pictures of my install. The engine has been in for over a week now, I'm just barely hitting 500 miles. I can't wait to really open her up. Check out these pics, what do you guys think?

Thats sweet! Did you put a clear coat finish over the paint on the engine? I just bead-blasted my engine parts. Wanna paint them before I put it back together. You block looks good.

Thanks guys. The install was a breeze, everything went smooth. It probably took about six hours to put everything in, engine, trans, rad, oil cooler, gauge wiring, a/c, etc. I got about 460 miles on it so far.
The housings came like from Mazdatrix, they do apear to be clear coated.

Very nice car, very shiny engine. I love the look of the racing beat intake too, very retro! Love the dual alternator belts too!

Number 1 in the picture, is that the crankcase breather or a mechanical gauge line?

Number 2 in the picture, is that the EGR block-off or just a thick piece that used to support the carb?

Nice shiny oil fill tube, too.

Maybe thats not a CA spec center housing. They have no EGR, at least I've never seen a 12a center housing with one?

I noticed your fan spacer looks a bit short. If you can, maybe you ought to try to locate an FB aluminum spacer. It currently looks like the fan is too far back. Or maybe it was intentional? My REPU had one of those short spacers on it (it fit the fan flush inside the shroud).

Where does the crankcase vent to here? Mine just has a little breather over it, I didn't think it needed anything fancy.

Thanks. #1 is going to the charcoal canister. I don't think its a big deal if it's hooked up or not. #2 is just part of the intermediate housing. Mazdatrix gave me the option of going with stronger 79' front and rear side housings on the rebuild becouse of their thicker and stronger castings so thats what I went with, but I was under the impression that all intermediare housings were the same, I never took a good look at my 83's, but I think thats the way they all are.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I've been wondering about this. Originally I had the POS 83-85 water-to-oil cooler on there, but after converting to a cooler from an 82 and putting in a new 3 row 79-82 style radiator, the only shroud I was able to find was that one. Can anyone tell me if that looks like a stock 82 shroud? I think it was cut. Also, do 79-82's have a longer extension on the fan mounts? It does stay nice and cool, so I'm not too worried.

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone.

remember to plug the line at the charcoal canister if removing it....

My car caught on fire today and the vapors from that line ignited into a big flame about 1 foot long ....very scary.

yup, the pre-83 has a thicker fan spacer. not sure about the fan shroud. but if you need a new set, i think i have a couple in my garage. otherwise, at pick up part off 60fwy/milliken, there are two complete 70/80.

again, nice engine. hope you can keep up with me. lol

the oil filler tube? It's been re-plated, not painted.

Cool bring it to SS5 if you can, I'll buy it off you. Do you have a shroud too, or just a spacer?
