Picture Request: Fuel and Tank Vent Lines
Picture Request: Fuel and Tank Vent Lines
Hey guys,
I have finally started putting my 7 back together after paint and major cancer surgery in the rear wheels. I pretty much gutted the entire car, as I was doing a complete color change. Despite my rediculously detailed diagrams I have been having some trouble getting the fuel lines and tank vent line put back in the car right. I am talking about the extremely long ones that start in the engine bay and run the length of the car, to the gas tank. I can't seem to figure out where they are supposed to be positioned on the firewall and underneath the car.
If someone could take some pics of the four lines for me that would be fantastic (fuel supply & return, fuel tank vent, and brake line to rear). I know where they hook up and how everything goes back, but it just seems like the lines keep twisting around and they don't want to go back in. I guess I am trying to bolt them down in the wrong place on the firewall and underneath the car. No matter where I position them it feels like they are wrong in one spot or another. Either the contours of the body don't match the line, or it is in the wrong place in the engine bay. At this point a picture is really worth a thousand words.
If someone could please get me some detailed pics of these lines on their firewall, and some good shots underneath the car (under driver floor), and especially the mess of lines and hoses back by the gas tank I would be forever grateful.
Fingers crossed....
Thanks,
Jamie

Jamie I'll try to grab some pics this evening when I put on my new rear end.
I'll also grab you that speedo cable today.
I probably won't be able to send you the pics or mail the cable 'till tuesday though.

Thanks. It will really come in handy so I can see how those darn things are supposed to go in there. I worked on it for about an hour this weekend and didn't get anywhere. I decided I would just try and get a picture instead of beating my brains out trying to figure it out. Thanks again for the speedo cable. Good luck with your rear end swap
Looking forward to the pics....

I'm shooting for late winter early spring as a finish date. This car obviously isn't going to be perfect as I have done all of the work myself, except for the carb rebuild. However, I think it will possibly be one of the cleanest first gen 7's on here. I have pretty much fixed every problem on the car, and modified quite a bit of things too. I just want the final result to be a fun, clean, well operating car. I don't want it to be a show car, 'cause what fun would that be?? I'm hoping to get a digital cam sometime and start posting pics. But you can definitely bet I'll post a whole bunch of the finished pics on here when she's done. Thanks for the interest...Jamie
Hey bouis,
Any update on those pics? I'm finally gonna have another chance to work on the 7 tonight, and thought I would try and finish the fuel system if I could figure out those dumb lines. Let me know. Thx.

Haha... thanks anyway for the effort Jon.
I've already got the tank and all the hoses figured out, I just can't get the frickin' things to mount up right. I'm hoping bouis is gonna show up anytime here with some pics for me. Then I should be set...
