If your ever in the area, I'll give you a ride and you'll understand.
I do like rotaries so don't flame me to much, I just like american V8's but don't like american cars.
The speedo is electronic- my trans is a '91 T-5 that has a electronic sender rather than a cable.

evil: This link should work for you http://www.grannyspeedshop.com If that doesn't work then I mispelled something. Anyway, Granny's Speed Shop has made the V8 swap a piece of cake for those who consider that route. I, for one, thought about it once while my seven sat in the garage with no motor. However, after being a member here and learning how unique the Rotary really is, I decided I would be missing out by not staying with the Rotary. It's really not about the power at all. Although, these ARE light weight cars that a V8 would do nice in-there are alot of other light weight cars out too for that matter....
Rotor vs Piston: You can't go wrong either way. I think BOTH colors would look real sweet on a 1st gen. British/Dark green has always gone good with small sports cars. And the silver, I think the new Honda Silver Satin looks real trick...

thats cool.. i would think that a built up rotory could easily challenge a v8 on the basis of weight alone.. dont v8s weigh alot? the rotory doesnt weigh that much does it? plus wouldnt that change your weight ballance.. i would think the engine would sit up front further just my 2 cents....

Great link, was about to leave the house, but I went threw the whole thread. So an hour later I guess I get my *** out.
The gauges... All I did for the time being is used the original cluster housing and cut a piece of plexi-glass to cover the face of the original cluster, put the gauges in there. The speedo and tach fit well but the temp and oil holes had to be enlarged a little, use the correct size hole saw and works out well. I'd like to figure out how to do fiber-glass, but I don't have an area to play in.

I'd go green! Mainly because mine's already silver...
Glad to see another piston guy on here. I was afraid that I was gonna get mobbed by everyone for doing a V8 swap on mine! LOL!
Actually, a small block V8 is only going to add around 100lbs, give or take depending on the engine used. So there's really not a significant weight increase. Many of the V8 rex's are running in the 11's, 12's, and 13's in the 1/4 mile bone stock (As far as the engine goes anyway. ie - Stock internals. And no superchargers, turbos, nitrous). Not sure what the rotories are running as I haven't seen any run yet where I live. Hope to soon though! I've heard they can be pretty darn quick!
But it's all about the car as a whole and not necessarily what's under the hood.
