Mike - I had a nice pipe made up to go on the front of my turbo that went out into the nose of the car with a 12 inch long K&N filter. It drained a BUNCH of power!!
I suggest making a short pipe from the snout of the turbo to hold an airfilter off the turbo itslf and then duct air to it from in front....just a suggestion...

Well with a pipe that long your definetely increasing the intake velocity into the turbo. But i wonder why that would drain pwr? Interesting. I have a question i will throw out cus its kinda related. Do you guys think its tru that longer intake runners on NA engines have a large affect on "cooling" the engine due to an increas in intake velocity and in tern colder intake charge? let me know what you guys think.

Think about it, fellahs....no matter how free-flowing it is, any air filter represents a restriction to air flow. With a long tube leading to the front and the air filter at the head of this phallic tube , you are subjecting the entire column of air between the filter and the turbo inlet to this restriction. The air filter at the turbo represents a much smaller mass of air column that is restricted by said filter but draws on the same infinite "tank" of air as the former homophilic set-up....oh, and the box arrived yesterday, Mike...thanks, again!

I am NOT useless!!!!
I dont do drugs anymore.....
Go play with your phallic tube!!!!!
Well... it looks like it would have poor airflow.......
I dunno, I will shut up now, before I show off all of my usless stupidity...............................

andrew said phallic, hahahahah. actually intake runners affect lowend and highend. it all is based off the pressure wave in the intake tube. the longer the intake the more lowend torque, shorter more highend horspower. of course most of this is based off of na applications. my guess is that you intake length is already too long do to all the plumbing already installed for the turbo. adding more is just more frictional drag on the pipe walls, thus downing hp.
don't worry andrew, we like your bong.

I actually made my intake pipe from 3in diameter PVC. I put it all together with high heat glue and painted it black. Hooked it to the Turbo with a silicone 3 to 1.5 reducer and I was ready to roll. It was cheap, very open, and totally smooth inside.
