Pic request - lower radiator hose

Ok, this is driving me nuts. I have an '84 GS, if it matters.

My lower radiator hose rubs on the motor mount. It's the right hose (I've tried 2 now). No matter what angles I try, if I flip it over, etc., it STILL rubs. It's like the angles are just wrong - especially the angle of the tubing coming from the radiator.

Can someone hook me up with a picture? Seeing how one is supposed to be would help me a lot.

Thanks!

Lisa

Here is a picture of my 85 SE. Angles should be close to the 12a though.

Thanks, guys. That helped a ton.

The angle of the tube coming out of the lower radiator is completely different than mine. Yours is much more vertical, mine has a flatter angle.

Any suggestions on whether it can be "bent" to a more verticle position? I don't want to replace the radiator, it's in really great shape. And finding a hose to go around the motor mounts will probably be a nightmare.

LOL

Fair enough

I'll see what I can do about getting pics, but I'll warn you ahead of time that I'm a slacker.

you could possibly use (I say possibly because I have yet to see you radiator situation) a coupler and a hose with an angle. You go to Pep Boys or the like, and get a radiator hose with the same diameter, and with a bunch of curves. Cut the curve you need Then you get something like this:

found here: http://www.iscracing.net/1stgenparts.htm

I know it says for the top, but you could use it in the bottom. Just plug the hole.

I think I'm going to take a stroll through AutoZone's hose isle, see if I can find something that might work.

I'll still try to get off my slacker *** & get some pics so you can at least see what I mean.

You would be better off going to a "Real" parts store like Napa. They usually have a ton of molded hoses in stock. If you get one of the guys to let you look at the paper hose catalog that has all of the pictures in it by sizes it will help.

There's 1 Napa. It closes at 5, which is conveniently the same time I get off work.

The Auto Zone here isn't that bad, unless I get one of the older guys that wants to call me "hun" and talk to me like I'm blonde.

I really prefer a place called Global, but they seem to be opposed to the idea of me rummaging through their hoses.... they have this thing for the "right part for the right car"... blahblahblah

Figures. Not to bump an old thread but I got this POS from Wrong Parts Zone.

I wasted 2 hours and my back hurts....

I called the local Mazda dealers and they are like "Huh whats an RX7??"
Mazdatrix has the goods... (Mazda 15-521C-N231). But I am broke *** right now. I emptied my accounts on neverending pieces. They don't kid when they call project cars "money holes" do they?

Did anyone have luck with the Napa or other parts store Lower Rad Hose?

This will probably not seem helpful but i will contribute anyways. When i was getting hoses, NO ONE carried 1 of the hoses. But Napa had the other hose i needed.

I cant remember if it was top or bottom i got from them but if you ask they should be like uhh, we dont carry that. or yes we have that one.

If i get to the shop today or tomorrow i will check which was which.

Cheers

I Bet Napa. There is one in New Braunfels I can drive too Monday. I'll just take this beeped up wrong one with me to make sure and even the old one, which I had to cut in two because it was 25 years old and crudded on. A zone's upper was fine so I think you may have something to look at there with Napa.

Thank's I'll check them too. I did some research and the Dayco 71229 hose looks like it has the proper bend for the motor mount.
