Phantom security???

Hey people,

My 81 FB has a Phantom security system with an ignition pin code of four numbers. The numbers of the code adhere to how many times you "click" the ignition while the system is locked to be able to start the car. It can be abled and diabled easily. I can't find **** on Phantom anywhere and I didn't install the system on the car. I've also noticed that I never get pulled over. Every time a cop uses his radar gun or laser my exhaust overheat light will blink on the dash panel. Sometimes it will stay lit for the duration of a radar trap. It is a very mysterious system and I need info on it. There's also a 9 volt battery and harness wired into the wires in my engine bay. I've asked a cop I know to try and read my speed (while i wasn't speeding of course) with his equipment and he said that it scrambled the numbers on the machine and made it impossible to read, both times I passes by him! This is strange because obviously the Phantom system is outdated or obsolete compared to the new equipment the police use. Right? Do any of you out there have Phantom security and/or know anything about it? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know, but that sounds pretty bad ***. Is the Phantom system a predecessor to the Valentine one?

Check on the forum here and post your question in the interior/exterior forum.

Aske Mike P-28 and Icemark about the system if all else fails. They are some pretty talented installers here.

Oh, and when you find out, please post some information, as you got me seriously curious.

I just posted it in the interior/exterior forum like you said. I hope some good info comes up, because we'll need it.

Vely Intelesting!

I have seen Phantom Radar Scramblers being sold in some truckstops. There are some active Radar Blockers on the market (that work), but they're expensive ($500) and very illegal in many States. Not illegal to sell or own, but illegal to operate. Check this site: http://www.culdenre.com/phantom_rcd.htm

I've not heard of a system like you're talking about: a security system with a built in active radar scrambler. That is interesting, vely, vely intelesting...

So Phantom is certified number one in the world as a cloaking device. I can't find the box for the device and it must have been hidden really well. I know it's a cloaking device but mine is also a security system. It is impossible to start the car without the pin code once the system has been locked. To enable the system you have to turn the key (click it) in neutral 3 times. I have found that sometimes the system will arm itself if the car is tampered with, such as someone trying to open the doors while they're locked. You can also arm it by pulling either door handle 3 times with one second increments. I know all of this from experimenting over the past 2 years. I wish I had the book for the system as well. It must be hidden just like the terminal box. Everything seems to be a "Phantom" when it comes to this security system. Probably because it's been deemed highly effective and very illegal, especially here in NY. Pretty cool for something like this to be on a first gen. Keep in mind that I bought the car for only $2,200 and it's turbo.

Hey
There is lots of stuff on Phantom........Did a search on Yahoo.......I think you have two systems.........One....and older Phantom security system.....pre remotes.......and second radar jammer.......You need to start looking around for the jammers location.....prior owner may have hid this out of sight .........................................
There is a radar jammers forum that you might get more information....Do a Yahoo search........
Let us know what you find.........
Have to go to work now...

Yes it's a widebody, lol. Porsche 911 slantnose style widebody. I can't exactly go out there and search for a jammer at the moment because of all the shitty snow and cold weather. Once we have a decent day I might pull it out of the garage and have a look. I'll do a search for Phantom on Yahoo..I've heard Google works just as well. I'll post any new info once I come across it. I have to work today and I have a million things to do Friday, so I'll probably post something on Saturday. Thanks guys.
